What's up in New West? Top Five weekend ideas for April 4 to 6

Deals and fun are to be had this weekend in New Westminster. We are continuing with our popular feature, The Record’s Top Five (or More) Things to Do This Weekend and offer the following suggestions for March 28 to 30. 1.
Century House
Century House is hosting an information session about LEADS Leadership Training on Tuesday, May 28 at 10 a.m.

Deals and fun are to be had this weekend in New Westminster. We are continuing with our popular feature, The Record’s Top Five (or More) Things to Do This Weekend and offer the following suggestions for March 28 to 30.
1.  Search for treasures at Century House’s popular thrift sale, which features all sorts of recycled treasures, including clothing and linens, small appliances, jewelry, kitchenware, knick-knacks, books, DVDs and CDs, plants and toys. The sale takes place on Saturday, April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 620 Eighth St.
2.  Get your game on at the Vancouver Retro Gaming Expo that’s taking place on Saturday, April 5 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the Columbia Theatre, 530 Columbia St. The event includes tournaments, gaming challenges, a video game clip show, retro game trivia, live entertainment, video game burlesque and a dealer hall where you can buy video games and video-inspired art, collectibles, clothing and more. Tickets are $20 and available at www.vancouvergamingexpo.com or at Gamedeals Video Games at 407 Columbia St.
3.  Listen as Rev. Graham Brownmiller of Queens Avenue United Church offers an overview of 2,500 years of Christianity. All are welcome to attend and enjoy the presentation (as well as coffee and muffins) that will focus on a number of important dates. The presentation is taking place on Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m. at 529 Queens Ave. Info: 604-522-1606.
4.  Celebrate local, handmade and homegrown goods at the Artisans Fair at River Market on Saturday, April 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artisans will be bringing out their best to celebrate new beginnings and all things spring. While you’re there, check out the Royal City Farmers Market, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
5.  Take the My Health My Community survey online and enter to win prizes. The survey is gathering input about issues such as transportation, community services, green spaces and sense of community. The deadline to complete the survey is Sunday, April 6 – so you’ve still got time to complete it and enter the promo code NEW WEST for the chance to win $45 of Harvest Boxes (fresh produce) and a $200 Best Buy gift card.
