1. Recycle your Christmas tree and help local causes at the New Westminster Firefighters’ Charitable Society’s annual tree chipping event. Taking place on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Canada Games Pool parking lot (65 East Sixth Ave.), the event features a barbecue, popcorn, face painting, music, a fire extinguisher demonstration, and tree chipping and recycling. Donations will be accepted for the charitable society, which supports local charities.
