Sunday, Oct. 15

Douglas College presents Miles for Mental Health, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Queen’s Park, New Westminster. The 2.5 km or 5 km run/walk raises funds for mental health in your community. This event benefits the Canadian Mental Health Association Vancouver-Fraser branch. The impact of mental health on post-secondary students is important, so we’re asking everyone – students, families, individuals, community members – to come out and support the cause. Monday, Oct. 16

Art and songs, explore children’s creative self through arts and crafts, songs and stories, for young children, parent participation required. Running on Monday’s from Oct. 16 to Nov. 20, 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the Early Years Centre at Qayqayt Elementary, 85 Merivale St. (access the centre at the back of Qayqayt). Free. Saturday, Oct. 21

Pop-up Board Game Café, Little Red Church that Can, 7457 Edmonds St., Burnaby, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Join us for conversation and board games. All ages welcome. Light refreshments served.

Reformed Hymn Festival, celebrating the 500th year of the Lutheran Reformation, 7 p.m., Queens Avenue United Church, 529 Queens Ave. Reception with cash bar to follow. Fest for the ears, the eyes, the heart.

Knox Presbyterian Church Christmas tea and bazaar, noon to 2:30 p.m., 403 East Columbia St. Come and enjoy Christmas tea and shop for baking, jam and jellies, crafts and stitchery and new-to-you tables.

Mount Zion Lutheran ladies fall ta, 2 to 4 p.m. in the lower hall at the corner of Tenth Avenue and Cumberland. Baking, crafts, white elephant sale. Admission is by donation, which entitles you to coffee/tea and goodies, plus a chance at door prizes.

Sunday, Nov. 5

Trivia challenge fundraiser for dog rescue, 2:30 p.m., Firefighter Public House in Burnaby. Tickets re $25 per person and include entry to trivia game and a $10 per person food//beverage credit (on a minimum $14 order.) Prizes, silent/live auctions, balloon pop for prizes and 50/50 draw. Fun for the family. All funds to the Soi Dog Foundation to sponsor flights for life for dogs rescued from the dog meat trade in Asia.
