Can you believe Labour Day is on Monday? Summer may be winding down, but there’s still fun to be found in the Royal City this long weekend.

We are continuing with our popular feature, The Record’sTop Five (or More) Things to Do This Weekend and offer the following suggestions for Aug. 29 to Sept. 1.

1.  Watch a classic on the big screen when Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark wraps up the Summer Movie Series at Queen’s Park Stadium. The movies have been taking place every Friday this summer at dusk. Bring some chairs or a blanket and some treats and head to the park for an outdoor flick.  In the case of poor weather, call 604-527-4634 to check on the status of the movie.

2.  Check out the offerings at the Curious Flea Market, where you’ll find goods by pickers, junkers, antiques experts, upcyclers and more. It’s all happening on Saturday, Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at River Market, 810 Quayside Dr.

3.  Drop by River Market where Lego master Joseph Cassidy (who goes by the moniker ‘who’) will help make the ultimate Lego postcard. Cassidy, a local steam-punk and alterworld artist, has been building complex Lego structures and art pieces for decades.  A few spaces were still available atThe Record’spresstime, so if you’re interested in taking part in the Lego build, email [email protected] by Friday and put “I want to be part of the great summer Lego build” in the subject line. For more information about the event, visit rivermarket.ca/lego.

4.  Take the kids to Queen’s Park, where the Ta Daa Lady takes to the bandshell stage to perform an interactive musical performance for families. The performance, the final day of Sensational Summer Review 2014, takes place on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m. at the bandshell stage near the playground.

5.  Bid farewell to the critters who have called Queen’s Park home since May, as the city gets set to close the petting farm for another year. After Labour Day, the goats, pigs, peacocks and other animals return to their year-round home after summering in the Royal City.
