1. Help work toward Terry Fox’s Dream of a world without cancer by taking part in the 37th annual Terry Fox Run on Sunday, Sept. 17 at Westminster Quay. Participants can walk, run, ride or wheel routes ranging from one to 10 kilometres along the scenic riverfront esplanade and Westminster Pier Park. Registration gets underway at 9:15 a.m. at River Market, and the run starts at 10 a.m.
2. Cheer on the New Westminster Salmonbellies who need to win Friday night's game at Queen's Park Arena to continue their quest for a 25th Mann Cup. With the Peterborough Lakers leading the best-of-seven series three games to two, Friday night's game is a must-win for the hometown team. Friday's game is at 7:30 p.m., but doors open at 6:30 p.m. A Bellies' win means a seventh and deciding game would take place on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Queen's Park Arena. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students and $10 for children 12 and under.
3. Join Vancouver folk-rockers Echo Nebraska at The Heritage Grill (back room) on Friday, Sept. 15. Tickets are $10 at the door. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. at 447 Columbia St.
4. Clean up the Queensborough riverfront at the seventh annual shoreline cleanup on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. At the event, part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, you’ll be able to pick up litter, plant native shrubs, remove invasive species and install bat boxes along the river. 5. Meet some of the folks who call Queen’s Park Care Centre home at the Queen’s Park Healthcare Foundation’s annual community barbecue, which features a free hamburger and drink and children’s activities, including arts and crafts, face painting and a mini soccer game.
