Canada Games Pool is just one of the places around town where you'll be able to get into the Halloween spirit this weekend.

1. Watch out for wandering ghosts, mummies and monsters at Canada Games Pool’s Haunted Graveyard Swim on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. at 65 East Sixth Ave. This all-ages event includes games, treats, and arts and crafts. Regular admission fees apply.

2. Share your secrets at the Dirty Little Secrets Improv Show at the Columbia Theatre on Friday, Oct. 25, where your secrets (shared anonymously) provide the comedians with inspiration. Doors open at 7:30 and the show is at 8 p.m. at 530 Columbia St. Tickets are available at the door and online via www.eventbrite.ca (search for Dirty Little Secrets Improv.)

3. Attend a free performance of You Used to Call Me Marie, a new play in development written by Tai Amy Gauman. Part of the Metis Arts Fest, it’s on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at Massey Theatre, 735 Eighth Ave. Tickets (free) at www.ticketsnw.ca or 604-521-5050.

4. Trick or treat and support a local non-profit society at the Halloween Trunk or Treat and Haunted House event on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at 102-100 Braid St. Royal City Cheer, Tumbling and Parkour is hosting the event that includes trick or treating and free games. Admission is $5 per person or $20 for a family (up to two adults and four kids), but the haunted house, snacks and some speciality games are extra. 5. Enjoy an evening of spooky fun at the Haunted Halloween Family Skate at Moody Park Arena on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. It includes spooky activities on and off the ice, ghostly games, fun photo opportunities and a creepy craft. Regular admission rates apply. The arena is at 701 Eighth Ave.

6. Check out circus performances at CARVED 2019 – a Halloween Circus Carnival, which also includes vendors, face painters, trick-or-treating, magicians, balloon animal artists, juggling and aerial silk workshops. It’s at the Vancouver Circus School in River Market (810 Quayside Dr.) on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 11 p.m., with performances happening every 30 minutes starting at 4:30 p.m. Ticket are $10 online or $15 at the door (free for children under one.)

7. Skip cooking and enjoy the monthly Ukrainian perogy supper at Holy Eucharist Church Hall (501 Fourth Ave.) on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. Perogy sales take place in the hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

8. Dress up for some trick or treating fun at the second annual Halloween at Crest Plaza on Saturday, Oct. 26 from noon to 3 p.m. The event includes a free pumpkin, boo-tacular bingo, prizes, goodie bags and more. Free admission, but donations of non-perishable food for the food bank is encouraged. Crest Plaza is located at 8697 10th Ave. (at Langley Street) – just across the New West border in Burnaby.

9. Plant some native species at the fifth and final outing of the Glenbrook Ravine enhancement project’s efforts of 2019. Volunteers of all ages and abilities will be planting about 300 plants on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can park at the Glenbrook Park Amenities Centre (76 Jamieson Crt.) and wander up the path where you’ll find the volunteers.
