1. Take part in litfest New West, which features readings, storytelling, workshops for kids and adults, discussions, Lit Cafés – and much more. Participating authors include JJ Lee, left, and Grayson Smith. The events are happening on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 7 p.m., at various locations. 2. Attend the Pop This! live podcast taping on Friday, March 31 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the New Westminster Public Library. Broadcaster/metal head Lisa Christiansen and music critic/author Andrea Warner will be talking about pop culture, at this kickoff event to LitFest New West event hosted by writer/journalist JJ Lee. 3. Take in a tribute to david bowie at Bowie: The Tribute on Friday, March 31 at the Union Jack Public House & Carvery, 525 Seventh St. A $10 cover charge applies after 8 p.m.
4. Head to the Royal City Farmers Market on Belmont Street on Saturday, April 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and do some shopping. It’s the second to last winter market of the season before it returns to its summer location in Tipperary Park in May.
5. Enjoy dinner out (or get takeout and take it home to enjoy) at the Ukrainian Perogy Supper at Holy Eucharist Church hall on Friday, March 31. From 5 to 8 p.m., you can dine on perogies, cabbage rolls, sausage and other tasty Ukrainian treats. Perogy sales take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s all happening at 501 Fourth Ave.
