Head to Queen's Park, Westminster Quay and the New West waterfront for all kinds of fun on Canada Day - Saturday, July 1.

1. Celebrate Canada Day 2017 (and Canada’s 150th birthday) at Queen’s Park on Saturday, July 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The family-friendly event features arts and heritage workshops, presentations by community groups and performances celebrating the story of Canada.

2. Have a blast at the Canada Day fireworks display on the waterfront at 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 1. The fireworks will light up the skies at over the Fraser River between River Market and the Inn at the Quay.

3. Enjoy a diverse lineup of entertainment at the 2017 Multicultural Festival taking place at Westminster Pier Park on Saturday, July 1 from 3 to 10 p.m.  Along with vendors and food, the event features performances by First Nations artists and performers from a variety of cultures - all celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday.

4. Take a break from cooking and head to the Ukrainian Perogy supper on Friday, June 30 at Holy Eucharist Church hall, 501 Fourth Ave. You can dine in or take goodies like perogies, sausage and cabbage rolls home to enjoy. The supper runs from 5 to 8 p.m., but perogy sales take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

5. Check out the New West Photography Club’s new exhibit: This City, Our Way: New West Through the Lens. The exhibit runs July 1 to July 30 at The Gallery at Queen’s Park (in Centennial Lodge) and the opening reception is on Wednesday, July 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. The gallery is open Thursday to Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m.
