1. Take a trip to Taiwan without leaving New West when the documentary Formosa 3D (English subtitles) is screened at Landmark Cinemas 10 New Westminster, 800 Carnarvon St. at the Shops at New West. Featuring images that 3D film director Charlie Chu captured over a decade, it’s being shown at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 23. Ticket are $15 and available at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3434527. 2. Race to Trace, the latest exhibition at the New Westminster New Media Gallery, before it closes on July 1. Featuring four works from six international artists, Trace explores complex human-technological interactions.  The gallery, located in Anvil Centre at 777 Columbia St., is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

3. Check out the Vancouver Retro Gaming Expo, where you’ll find gaming tournaments, live music, panels, vendors, artists and more. It’s happening on Saturday, June 23 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia St. Tickets and info at www.vancouvergamingexpo.com.

4. Have fun at the Royal City Hyacks Football Club’s annual Hyack Football Family Fun Day on Sunday, June 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mercer Stadium. The day’s fun includes a bouncy castle, dunk tank, a football toss and a concession. You can also register in-person for the fall season. Expose the kids to the world of Anne Shirley at the Anne of Green Gables afternoon for eight- to 12-year-olds at Irving House, 302 Royal Ave., on Saturday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids will learn about one of Canada's most beloved fictional characters, try some child-friendly raspberry cordial, have an Edwardian tea including sandwiches, and make a scrapbook, a rag rug and more to take home. 6. Enjoy a night out on the town at the Heritage Grill, which is serving up a variety of entertainment (and food and bevvies, too) this weekend. 7. Take the kids to Code Club where they’ll do easy-to-follow coding projects and learn concepts that will help grow their understanding of digital making.
