1. Eat to your heart’s content at the fifth annual Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest on Saturday, July 29 from 4 to 10 p.m. In addition to 85 to 90 food trucks, you’ll find vendors, several beer gardens, live music and a block dedicated to fashion. It’s all happening on Columbia Street.
2. Check out ventriloquist Kellie Haines’ performance at River Market, where she’ll sing songs from her most recent album, The Story of Me, Myself & I – accompanied by Magrau, the trick bird and Kamilla, the curious frog. This all-ages, free show takes place on Sunday, July 30 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at River Market, 810 Quayside Dr.
3. Pop in to the Plaskett Gallery in Massey Theatre to view Aqua Studium, an exhibition by artist Margaret Lawther in which she examines reflections on still pools of water in city parks. The Plaskett Gallery, located in the Massey Theatre complex at 735 Eighth Ave., is open Tuesday to Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m., by appointment and during performances in Massey Theatre. The exhibition runs till Aug. 31.
4. Enjoy a summer tradition and head to one of the outdoor pools for a dip. The Moody Park outdoor pool has a diving board, a slide, swimming lanes – and a spacious deck to chill on. Hume Park is home to a shallow pool and Grimston Park has the city’s only wading pool for little ones.
5. Pack a blanket or chairs and head to Queen’s Park Stadium for this week’s screening of Hook, part of the outdoor summer movie series. The concession is open at this event, which takes place on Friday, July 28 at dusk (about 9 p.m.) Doors open at 7 p.m.
