As in past years, thousands of people are expected to take in this weekend's Uptown Live street festival.

1. Enjoy a day of live music at Uptown Live, a free music festival featuring live performances, food trucks, a beer garden, art installations, artisan vendors, interactive activities and more. This year’s lineup includes headliner Daniel Wesley and a host of other performers. It’s taking place on Saturday, July 22 from noon to 9 p.m. around Sixth and Sixth in uptown New West. 2. Watch the first ever Royal City Take Over on Saturday, July 22, where wrestlers will take part in a daylong tournament as part of the first New West Super Cup tournament. The semifinals and finals take place during the main event at 7 p.m. at Royal City Centre mall, 610 Sixth St. Seating is limited and there may be standing room only. RSVP at eventbrite.ca.

3. Check out some cool cars at the Royal City Show and Shine on Sunday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., when more than 100 cars will be on display at the Justice Institute of B.C. parking lot, 715 McBride Blvd. You’ll be able to purchase tasty treats from food vendors on site.

4. Take a journey into the past and learn about the Fraser Valley at the Faces of the Fraser speaker series at Fraser River Discovery Centre. Science educator Erica Williams will serve up info about local geological history – and show some cool rocks – at the presentation, taking place on Saturday, July 22 at 1 p.m. at 788 Quayside Dr. Free, but you’re asked to pre-register at www.fraserriverdiscovery.org/FOTF-EricaWilliams or by calling 604-521-8401.

5. Get on your bike and head to Hub Cycling’s second annual Bike to Shop Days, where you can ride to stores on the discount providers’ map and score great deals, collect stamps at various stations and businesses for a chance to win a prize (there’s a $500 gift card up for grabs). Visit a celebration station outside River Market on Sunday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for free food, drinks, prizes, bike tune-ups and more.
