Leave your troubles outside and head to the cabaret, when Royal City Musical Theatre’s production of the Tony Award-winning musical Cabaret hits the stage at the Massey Theatre, 735 Eighth Ave. Running April 12 to 29, Cabaret features classic songs like Cabaret, Willkommen and Maybe This Time. Search for treasures at the Century House Association’s annual thrift sale on Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Century House, 620 Eighth St. You’ll find clothing, linens, children’s items, kitchenware, toys, knickknacks, plants, jewelry, DVDs and CDs – and much more. Refreshments are also available for purchase, and everyone is welcome.
4. Attend the Miss New Westminster Awards gala weekend that includes a speech and talent presentation on Friday night at the Justice Institute of B.C. ($15 regular or $10 for students) and the scholarship and awards gala and installation of 2018 Hyack ambassadors and Miss New Westminster on Saturday Night at the Douglas College Theatre ($20 regular or $15 for students). 5. Browse through more than 200 tables of vintage collectables and antiques at the 25th Annual Fraser Valley Antiques and Collectibles Club’s antiques and collectibles show at Queen’s Park Arena. The sale is on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $5, unless you want to attend Friday night’s early admission, which runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and costs $20.
6. Participate in a collaborative and ever-evolving poetry sculpture at Collective City Poetry, a project by Molly Marineau, the city’s solid waste and recycling artist in residence.
