New Westminster Museum
The New Westminster Museum is among the cultural services currently under the domain of the office of the chief administrative officer. Some folks are wondering if New Westminster's cultural offerings should be overseen by a different department.

1. Hear some strange New Westminster history at Stuff Museums Never Told You on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 11 a.m. to noon at the New Westminster Museum in Anvil Centre. Volunteer historians will highlight some lesser-known stories of the past, from questionable medicine to drunken chicken farmers parking their rotting fish on Columbia Street. Anvil Centre is at 777 Columbia St.

2. Get blown away by artwork by artists Carrielynn Victor and Bracken Hanuse Corlett at Mixed Reviews, the latest exhibit at the Plaskett Gallery in the Massey Theatre complex. The gallery, located at 735 Eighth Ave., is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m., during performances in Massey Theatre and by appointment.

3. Enjoy an evening of music at International Guitar Night, featuring four innovative and accomplished acoustic guitarists who each have a different style and will be performing individually and teaming up for duets and quartets. It’s on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Massey Theatre, 735 Eighth Ave. Tickets are available at www.ticketsnw.ca.
