1. Recycle your Christmas tree, support local charities and have fun at the New Westminster Firefighters’ Charitable Society’s annual tree chipping on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Canada Games Pool parking lot. In addition to bringing trees to be chipped and recycled, folks can also watch fire extinguisher demonstrations, listen to live music and enjoy a barbecue, popcorn and hot chocolate. Everything is by donation, with proceeds going to the charitable society, which helps those in need in the community.
