Award-winning rock ‘n’ roll photographer Dee Lippingwell is featured at the New Westminster Public Library’s slideshow/speaker series, 7 p.m. 716 Sixth Ave. Lippingwell, who has shot the most famous rock idols from the 1970s to the 1990s, will speak about her four decades of shooting major rock acts worldwide. Her two books, Best Seat in the House and First Three Songs … No Flash!, will be made available at the end of the evening.

Sunday, Sept. 18

Sixth annual Queensborough shoreline cleanup, meet at 98:30 a.m. on South Dyke Road at the foot of Carter Street to sign up. Ring gloves, rakes, pruners and shovels, and the whole family, for a for work party. Volunteers will be picking up garbage, removing invasive plants, planting two special trees and other native species. Refreshments for participants. Along with cleanup up the Fraser foreshore, participants will also be taking some of the found garbage and making an art piece.

Monday, Sept. 19

New Westminster Puffers Club meets at 12:30 to 2 p.m., New Westminster Public Library auditorium, 716 Sixth Ave. Anyone with or having friends with COPD, sleep apnea, asthma or any other breathing problems are welcome to attend. Today’s speaker: Shelly Cole from the New Westminster Police Department.

RiverFest, a celebration of B.C. and World Rivers Day, Westminster Quay boardwalk, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Includes art, historical, environmental and conservation exhibits, children’s activities in the family fun zone, the Lucille Johnstone workboat parade, and live music.
