The folks at New Westminster Family Place and the Purpose Society are getting set for the 11th annual Christmas for Kids toy drive at the Paddlewheeler Pub on Dec. 6, with proceeds going to Family Place and the Lower Mainland Purpose Society. Friday, Dec. 1

Senior digital story telling, 6:30 p.m., Thornebridge Gardens, 649 Eighth Ave. Residents of Thornebridge Gardens, along with SFU students, will present a display of short stories on film. RSVP by Nov. 30 by calling 604-524-6100. Limited seating.

Saturday, Dec. 2

Christmas sale at Knox Church, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 403 East Columbia St. Many items will be for sale including sports memorabilia, vintage items, handmade crafts, wreaths, crochet and more. Funds to support Knox Church building fund. All are welcome to visit and have a cup of coffee or tea. Table rentals are $20; contact Betty McIntosh at 604-619-8455 by Nov. 20.

Tuesday, Dec. 5

Foster families needed. Have you ever considered becoming a foster family? There are children and youth in New Westminster and Burnaby who need skilled, caring foster parents. Ministry of Children and Family Development is holding an information session today at 7195 Cariboo Rd., Burnaby. Wednesday, Dec. 6

Eleventh annual toy drive at the Paddlewheeler Pub, on from 7 to 10 a.m. Bring an unwrapped gift valued at $15 or more and receive a free pancake breakfast. Donations of toys, games, books and puzzles are accepted. There will be receipts for cash donations over $20. All proceeds go to New West Family Place and the Lower Mainland Purpose Society. The pub is at River Market, 810 Quayside Dr.

Friday, Dec. 15

Christmas for Kids party by Fraternal Order of Eagles #20 New Westminster, 3:30 to 6 p.m., St. Barnabas Church hall, 1010 Fifth Ave. For kids up to 10 years of age. Must register by Dec. 8. Contact Joan at 604-521-2391 or [email protected].
