Employment workshop, understanding labour market and employer expectations, 6:30 to 9 p.m., New Westminster Public Library, 716 Sixth Ave. A series of employment workshops will be offered at the New Westminster Public Library on Fridays in November. Evelyn Sangster Benson book launch, A Century in a Small Town. Will read some of the stories from the book, 2 p.m., New Westminster Public Library. Benson's family has lived in the same house for five generations. Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing at the reception. World War Two Café, gives people a chance to sit down with a cup of tea and chat with someone who lived through the Second World War. Visitors can ask questions about air raids, children's evacuations, battle accounts, and the war effort on the home front and other stories. Ten New Westminster residents and former residents have signed up to tell their stories and answer questions. This all-ages event is taking place at Century House from 12:30 to 3:15 p.m. Call 604-527-4640 for more information and to register.

Santa Claus photos with pets, Van Pet at Royal Square Mall at Eighth Avenue and McBride Boulevard, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit Santa and get a photo of your adorable pet, $10 suggested donation with all proceeds going to the Royal City Humane Society.
