Writing Workshop: Learn to upload eBooks, a working at 6:30 p.m. Perry Wilson will show how to get your book into Smashwords, Amazon, Kobo and other online eBook retailers. This workshop is given from a Canadian point of view and is useful for self-publishers or indie publishers. The workshop is sponsored by the Royal City Literary Arts Society and the New Westminster Public Library. As space is limited, pre-register at 604-527-4667. The library is at 716 Sixth Ave.

Travel show on Guatemala, 7:30 p.m. at New Westminster Public Library, 716 Sixth Ave. Join Reverend Emilie Smith as she shows her photographs of this Central American country. Currently parish priest of St. Barnabas Anglican Church in New Westminster, she lived in Guatemala for four years where she worked with communities healing from the 36-year war. The travel shows are co-sponsored by the library and the University Women's Club of New Westminster

Barbecue for National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Choices at the Crest, 8683 10th Ave. Burnaby. Join us for a free presentation to learn how mental illness affects individuals, families and communities. For a $5 donation, enjoy the barbecue. 500,000 Canadians are caring fore an adult diagnosed with a mental illness; stigma can prevent people from asking for support and information.

ecoFEST 2014, 12 to 4:30 p.m. on New Westminster boardwalk, a youth-founded and organized event initiated by New Westminster Secondary School environment club. Lower Mainland organizations will have booths showcasing their causes and informing public on how to get involved. Carnival games, local bands and music acts and inspirational speakers who will share their success stories as youth environmental leaders or aspects of the environmental movement.
