We’ve got an eclectic array of offerings taking place in New West on the final weekend of August. Here are the Record’s top picks for the Aug. 28 to 30 weekend.

1.  Have a Dog-gone good time at Doggy Fun Day at Queen’s Park on Sunday, Aug. 30. The event, which takes place on the field above the off-leash area from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., features competitions like bobbing for wieners, dog/owner lookalike, egg and spoon races, and a seven-legged race, as well as dog tricks, demonstrations, displays, raffles and more. 2.  Enjoy the family fun bazaar at St. Barnabas Church on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1010 Fifth Ave. The fundraiser includes a yummy $2 salmon bake, a bouncy castle for kids (weather permitting), giant thrift sale. You’ll be able to buy items from sales tables, including authentic Mexican tacos and more.

3.  Swing and enjoy the final night of the city’s TGIF&S outdoor public dancing series on Friday, Aug. 28 at Westminster Pier Park. Instructors will offer free lessons on swing dancing from 7 to 7:30 p.m., with dancing to take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. If the weather’s iffy, call 604-527-4634 an hour ahead of the dance to see if it’s still on.

4.  Take the family to the last outdoor movie at Queen’s Park Stadium on Friday, Aug. 28, when Big Hero 6 wraps up the 2015 Summer Movie Series. 5.  Attend a free workshop where you’ll be introduced to the way music is created for today’s movies, soundtracks and pop culture. Digital Guise’s interactive show will demonstrate the behind-the-scenes artistic integration of music and action in the making of films and videos. The 45-minute workshops for families are being held on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at River Market, 810 Quayside Dr. No pre-registration is necessary.

6.  Blast over to the Sapperton Pensioners Hall to check out Thunder Bowl, the largest and longest running league of table top Blood Bowl in North America. Intrigued?
