School board byelection

Cast a vote to fill the vacant trustee seat on the New Westminster board of education.

  • Where: Residents can vote at five polling stations in New Westminster: Queen Elizabeth Elementary School gym – 921 Salter St.; Lord Tweedsmuir Elementary School gym – 1714 Eighth Ave.; Fraser River Middle School gym – 800 Queens Ave.; Glenbrook Middle School gym – 701 Park Cres.; and Skwo:wech Elementary School gym – 331 Richmond St.

Renting 101

Learn about assorted tenants’ topics at Renting 101, hosted by the New Westminster Public Library and the City of New Westminster. This free presentation will cover assorted topics related to the rights and obligations renters have under the law.

Lunar New Year

Celebrate Lunar New Year with Year at a Family Sky Lantern Workshop, where residents can drop in and enjoy storytelling, decorate sky lanterns in a hands-on workshop and celebrate the Year of the Dragon. It’s presented by the City of New Westminster, in partnership with the Asian-Canadian Special Events Association.

  • When: Sunday, Feb. 4, 1 to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia St.

Take a "A Walk Through New West" by viewing the oil paintings and linocuts of artist George Jiri Mosna, whose works capture the beauty of scenes including autumn foliage in Queen's Park, tug boats on the Fraser  River and sunsets at the Quay.
