Graduating students at New Westminster Secondary School want your empty cans and bottles.

On Saturday, Jan. 5 students from the high school will be canvassing the city collecting empty drink containers to raise money for their dry grad, an alcohol-free grad party organized by parents each year. The event takes place in June and is made possible through community donations and fundraising.

Volunteer parents and students will be out and about on Saturday picking up returnable containers. People with drink containers to donate, including empty juice boxes, beer, cider and pop cans, wine and liquor bottles, are asked to gather them in a bag and leave the bag on their porch with a note indicating it’s for pickup by the dry grad team.

Anyone who would rather drop off their donations can do so directly at the New Westminster bottle depot on Eighth Street across from the high school. Be sure to tell the staff they’re for the NWSS dry grad.

Anyone with questions or who wants to arrange pickup is asked to email the dry grad committee at [email protected].
