The Purpose Society is offering families the chance to pick up a toy or two for their kids from Dec. 20 to 22.

Families in need of a toy or two for their kids may find just what they need at the Purpose Society.

On Monday, the Purpose Society staff, Rotary volunteers and community volunteers delivered more than 100 Christmas hampers to folks in need of a helping hand.

“Yesterday, the Purpose Society successfully delivered over 150 hampers, including a turkey for those families who wanted one,” said Lynda Fletcher-Gordon, the society’s acting executive director. “The hampers were made up by donors who reached down deep in their pockets to put together these wonderful Christmas gifts for folks who needed some support this Christmas.”

Fletcher-Gordon said staff and volunteers started delivering the hampers early in the day and finished up with time to spare.

“Hamper delivery day is always an organizational challenge, and we were very happy with how well the day went,” she said.

The hampers have all been delivered, but the Lower Mainland Purpose Society still has some toys available for families that could use a toy or two for Christmas.

People are invited to drop by 502 Columbia St. (the old Army & Navy Department Store) Tuesday, Dec. 20 through Thursday, Dec. 22 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and pick up a toy/s for their children.
