Yoga meets art in a new monthly event at Centennial Lodge.

Praxis is a free event that invites artists to practise their figure drawing of the (consenting) participants in a yoga class at the same time.

“This unique offering explores an understanding of the human body as a form as well as a tool,” says a press release.

The Arts Council of New Westminster is partnering with Lululemon to offer the classes, which will be led by instructors Jenni Higgins (the owner of MOVE studio in Sapperton) and Hillary Keegan (who teaches yoga across the Burnaby and New Westminster area). The classes are described as a “sensory experience that unites yoga, dance and movement, sound and visual art.”

The classes are followed by a social where participants can mingle over food and drinks from local businesses.

The next event is on Wednesday, June 20 from 7 to 8 p.m., and the post-class social features Steel & Oak Brewing and the Vancouver Fashion Truck.
