PechaKucha New West is returning with its first ever online edition.

In need of a little inspiration? Want to enjoy a night out from the comforts of home? PechaKucha New West has got you covered.

PechaKucha New West is returning for Volume 26 on Saturday, June 19 with its first ever virtual show. There’s only room for 100 attendees at this virtual event, which starts at 7 p.m., so you may want to get your tickets soon.

"Our event on June 19th is our first in over a year and our first virtual event,” said Carly Fryer, board president of PechaKucha New West. “We're looking forward to the unique platform to share our community's stories and engage with New West."

Founded by Tokyo architects in 2003 as a way of giving young designers a place to meet, show their work and exchange ideas, PechaKucha has spread to hundreds of cities around the world. The speakers’ series features a format that gives each presenter an opportunity to show 20 slides for 20 seconds each.

Since its launch in January 2013, PechaKucha New West events have been held at a variety of venues, including River Market, Westminster Pier Park, Anvil Centre and Massey Theatre.

“We love PechaKucha and we love New West,” said Mary Chernoff, the group’s vice-president. “We are very much looking forward to reconnecting with our community and celebrating the exchange of ideas and stories."

Tickets for Volume 26 are $5 and are available at www.eventbrite.ca (search for PechaKucha New West – Volume 26). Details about the evening’s presenters will be released on PechaKucha New West’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds.
