An afternoon tea will be popping up somewhere in New Westminster this weekend.
Popluck New Westminster’s latest event is Afternoon Tea Delight, which is taking place on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Popluck organizes a series of dinners in open air spaces in Westminster.
The final Popluck event of the year has an “afternoon high tea” theme, so people are encouraged to bring a thermos of their favourite tea to share, as well as some lovingly prepared treats.
Organizers suggest items such as baked scones with jam, finger sandwiches and pastries. People are also invited to get into the spirit and wear fancy hats, fascinators and Sunday attire.
In addition to bringing their own plate, cutlery, teacups and drinks, people are reminded to bring a pillow or chair because dining will take place on a low table.
Last year, New Westminster residents Neal and Melinda Michael launched Popluck New West, which features pop-up dinners in open air spaces. Past events have been held at locations such as Westminster Pier Park and the Front Street parkade. The location will be revealed to people who register for the event.
