New Westminster Secondary School’s Class of 2022 could use your help in making this year’s dry grad a night they won’t forget.

The NWSS dry grad bottle drive is taking place on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the NWSS parking lot (in front of the main doors to the new school) and at the Queensborough Landing Return-It depot. NWSS grads will be running drive-thru bottle drives at both locations to raise money for their end-of-school celebration.

“The students will grab the bottles from your trunk as you drive by, preferably stopping for a moment so as not to re-enact the Surrey mayoral scandal,” said a notice from the dry grad committee. “They will give you a smile and a wave as you drive away – all contact free. With the ups and downs of the pandemic years, we are working as a community to fully fund this event and keep our grads safe for the night.”

Containers being accepted at the bottle drive include plastic, glass and tin beverage containers. A full list of containers being accepted can be found at www.return-it.ca.

“All proceeds go towards the Class of 2022 dry grad celebration,” said the notice. “Support a great cause and clear out your garage.”

The NWSS dry grad committee runs a few pub nights, restaurant sales fundraisers, wine raffles and a bottle drive to make the dry grad event affordable or free for the grads.

“A night of hypnosis, magic, food, friends and memory making is being planned to celebrate our one and only public high school graduation class,” said a notice from the committee.

The NWSS parking lot is located at 820 Sixth St. and the Queensborough Landing Return-It Depot is at 409 Boyne St.
