What's a bit of damp weather when you live in New Westminster?

New West residents turned out over the weekend to enjoy a dozen guided walks as part of the Jane's Walk festival being held around the globe.

The walks are held in honour of urban activist Jane Jacob, bringing community members together in cities nationwide to take walks and explore their own backyards.

In New Westminster, residents enjoyed a series of walks that ran the gamut from a family fun walk in the West End to a pub crawl with NEXT New West.

Other participants joined in walks along the riverfront, through Glenbrook Ravine, along the South Dyke Trail and through the Fraser and St. Peter's cemeteries, among others.

Photographer Jason Lang caught up with city councillor Chuck Puchmayr, who led a Jane's Walk along 12th Street to explore the shops and restaurants of the area.
