New West raises more than $15,000 in 2022 Terry Fox Run

About 150 people and 15 volunteers took part in Sunday’s run at Westminster Quay

New West residents are helping to keep Terry Fox’s dream of finding a cure for cancer alive.

Kathy Jones, organizer of the Terry Fox Run in New Westminster, said about 150 people participated in the event, which raised more than $15,000. Fifteen volunteers helped with the run, held under sunny skies on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Westminster Quay.

“It was a GREAT event,” she said in an email to the Record. “Fun, fun, fun, and such a lovely honouring of Terry and his ambitious dream of helping raise money for researchers to find cancer cures.”

Cathy and Barb, who are cancer survivors, cut the ribbon at the starting line to launch the run. As Trooper’s Raise a Little Hill blasted on the boardwalk in front of River Market, participants embarked on the three-kilometre loop that goes to the west end of the boardwalk and back.
