Robyn Murrell founded the Parkinson Wellness Centre, which recently opened in Sapperton and provides a variety of services for people living with Parkinson’s disease and their families. The centre is celebrating its grand opening on Oct. 21.

Pottery and yoga are two of the IMPACT Parkinson Society’s latest offerings.

People who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s are invited to attend Pottery for Parkinson's, which aims to build community strength and resilience, foster community creativity and wellbeing, and tackle social isolation for people with the disease. During each of three two-hour sessions (Friday, Oct. 15, 23 and 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.) participants will create two or three pieces of pottery to take home.

The IMPACT Parkinson’s Society is also moving its yoga class online. Yoga instructor Kelly Ranford and volunteer, Aileen Choi have helped create a Yoga for PD video.

“In order to make our wonderful beneficial Yoga for PD class available to everyone with Parkinson's, instead of paying per session you can now make a onetime donation to IMPACT Parkinson's Society and have access to it anytime you want,” said a notice about the program. “Any amount of donation is appreciated so we can continue to create and offer more programs for people fighting back against Parkinson's.”
