Meet George: Visitors to Fraser River Discovery Centre are familiar with George the sturgeon. The interpretive centre invites people to attend Sturgeon Tales on Saturday, Nov. 2.

Saturday, November 2

Sturgeon Tales, Fraser River Discovery Centre. Learn more about this amazing fish that has been around since the time of the dinosaurs, 2 to 4 p.m. Through puppet making, games and a conservation lab, families will explore the ecology, anatomy and habitat of the white sturgeon. This drop-in program is by donation. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fraser River Discovery Centre, 788 Quayside Dr.

Monday, November 4

Codependents Anonymous Freedom Group, a twelve-step program for men and women who want healthier, more functional relationships with themselves and others. The Art of the Memoir, A Canadian Soldier's Journey, 6:30 p.m., New Westminster Pubic Library, 716 Sixth Ave. Free. Margaret Cadwaladr will discuss working with veteran George Reid in the development of his memoir, as well as the process, challenges and rewards of memoir writing. The presentation includes a video recording of Reid describing his experience during the war. The event is co-sponsored by the Royal City Literary Arts Society and the New Westminster Public Library. An animated evening at the New Westminster Public Library, when the library celebrates its own Animation Day, 7 p.m. A selection of animated short films will entertain you and offer an appreciation of the wonderful creativeness and extraordinary range of techniques that go into animation.  Pre-register by phone at 604-527-4667 or email at [email protected].
