The New Westminster Firefighters’ Charitable Society raises money that it disperses to a number of local groups, including the Union Gospel Mission and the pediatric unit at Royal Columbian Hospital. It raises funds through events such as the bi-annual hockey game against the Vancouver Canucks Alumni, the Christmas tree chipping and the Shred-a-thon, where people are invited to bring papers for shredding and make a donation.
