The New Westminster Firefighters’ Charitable Society recently spread some kindness to those in need.
The society recently presented St. Barnabas Church with a cheque for $5,000, which will go toward its weekly community lunch program.
The New Westminster Firefighters’ Charitable Society raises money that it disperses to a number of local groups, including the Union Gospel Mission and the pediatric unit at Royal Columbian Hospital. It raises funds through events such as the bi-annual hockey game against the Vancouver Canucks Alumni, the Christmas tree chipping and the Shred-a-thon, where people are invited to bring papers for shredding and make a donation.
Stay tuned for more details about this year's shred-a-thon, which takes place later this spring.
