The New West Craft Summer Night Market is returning for its third year – and this time, it’s expanding across the river.

The market, presented by the Arts Council of New Westminster, will include more than 100 crafters and artisans, selling their unique handmade wares along the Quay boardwalk and at Port Royal Park in Queensborough. It’s happening on Saturday, July 7 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

“With the Q2Q Ferry back in service again this summer, it seemed a natural fit to include the Queensborough neighbourhood in the Summer Night Market event,” said the arts council’s program coordinator, Laura Grady, in a press release. “The Arts Council of New Westminster aims to bring community together through the arts, and we are thrilled to be facilitating that commitment through our night market.”

Along with the artisan vendors, the evening will include food and drinks, plus live music from Sm:)le Band and DJ services from the New West Youth Centre’s DJs.

Last year, the New West Craft Summer Night Market attracted more than 3,500 visitors from around the Lower Mainland.

Gurveen Dhaliwal, chair of the Queensborough Special Programs Committee, said the group is excited to be partnering with the arts council on this year’s event.

“Creating opportunities and innovating the ways in which we serve the Queensborough community has been a priority for the QPSC; the Q2Q is a natural opportunity to bring some excitement to our neighbourhood,” she said.

The market is free and family-friendly.
