Seniors gardening Century House

While the weather channels are forecasting some mixed precipitation – including snow – this weekend, spring is just around the corner.

For local seniors interested in trying out some new activities or getting set for spring, Century House is the place to be.

Royal City Musical Theatre’s annual productions at Massey Theatre are a springtime tradition in the Royal City. While many people have enjoyed a play, concert or musical, few may have a working knowledge of how it all happens.

The Making of a Musical will teach folks the inner workings, from understanding a script to seeing how a technical rehearsal brings it all together. They’ll cap off all that knowledge by attending a production of Anything Goes at Massey Theatre.

Open to folks aged 50 and up, The Making of  Musical takes place at Century House on Mondays from March 27 to April 24 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The course costs $78 (including a theatre ticket). To register call 604-519-1066 and cite code 155915.

Nothing quite says spring like gardening – and Century House has you covered on that front at well.

Get Ready for Spring Gardening takes place on Thursday, March 9 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Joan Miller will lead participants in planting a container of sweet peas and edible peas. Participants will also learn how to make a cooking herb wreath. Intrigued? You can sign up for this course (it costs $35, which includes instruction and all supplies) at 604-519-1066 (cite code 154490.)

Seniors can also get into the spring spirit by planting a cup of crocuses and by using hardy succulents and miniature accessories to design and plant a fairy garden. The Cup of Crocuses and Fairy Garden class runs on Thursday, March 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. It’s $42 and includes all supplies. Cite code 154491 when registering for this class.
