A panel will provide a variety of perspectives of how to tackles pressures on how to use land in the Fraser River basin.
“The Fraser River and the land around it is used by industry, fish and wildlife and – increasingly – the general public, to walk, bike and even live beside,” said Stephen Bruyneel, executive director of Fraser River Discovery Centre. “But balancing these different land uses is no easy matter. That’s why we have put together an expert panel to come and talk to us about it at our next Fraser River Dialogue.”
Fraser River Dialogue is on Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Fraser River Discovery Centre. Tickets are $25.
Members of the panel include: Marc Ballard, manager of real estate, Vancouver Fraser Port Authority; Kirk Miller, former chair of the Agricultural Land Commission; Alan Martin, director of strategic initiatives with the B.C. Wildlife Federation; and Bruce Hemstock, principal with PWL Partnership Landscape Architects Inc. and lead developer of Westminster Pier Park.
“While these panel members will bring their own land use perspective to the discussion, they all also know how important it is to find a balance between all the different uses,” Bruyneel said. “That’s what is needed to ensure the sustainability of the living, working Fraser River.”
