The Royal City Farmers Market set a new record at its recent fundraiser held recently at Wild Rice restaurant.
More than $3,500 ($1,200 more than the previous year) was raised at the event.
"We've heard such great feedback from people who came, and we want to take a moment to say some thank-yous to those who supported our fundraiser," said a blog post from Jen Arbo, operations manager for the market. "First, we want to say a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wild Rice. They took our idea to offer dishes made with our vendors' local products and ran with it, creating three special menu choices to choose from, and went over and above to offer a great cocktail menu and inventive dinner service."
Arbo also thanked Re-Up BBQ, the New Veganminster Project and market vendor Rockweld Farm for being menu sponsors to help offset the costs of the dishes to keep ticket prices low.
"These people stepped up without question and really supported what we were trying to do," Arbo wrote.
She noted the work done by Of Desks, who did a "fabulous" job of designing the tickets and made a donation to help offset the costs of printing.

The Royal City Farmers Market launched on June 7. The market is held at Tipperary Park every Thursday, rain or shine, and runs until Oct. 4.
"We're really excited for the season to begin," Arbo told The Record before the summer market launched. "There's lots of new and exciting stuff, as well as many familiar faces."
