A "salmon egg hunt" is one of the fun activities planned for Fraser River Discovery Centre on the Easter weekend.

Something fishy is happening at Fraser River Discovery Centre this Easter.

The centre invites community members to drop by to “enjoy the salmon eggs-travaganza” this Easter weekend, where visitors can enjoy spring- and Easter-themed activities, games and crafts.

“You know spring is definitely here when Easter rolls around, and this year we are celebrating in special ways,” said Stephen Bruyneel, the centre’s director of external relations and development. “Come and visit us Thursday to Saturday to join in the fun!”

Youngsters are invited to take part in a “spring salmon egg hunt” and search for “salmon eggs” that will be hidden throughout the centre. All participants in the salmon egg hunt, which runs Thursday to Saturday, will win a tasty prize.

On Friday and Saturday, visitors can get creative in a salmon mosaic activity and personalize their very own piece of river art. Kids aged six and up are also invited to learn about how salmon are affected by climate change in Fraser River Discovery Centre’s climate change demonstrations.

Bruyneel said the health and safety of all visitors to Fraser River Discovery Centre is a priority, so events and activities will continue to be offered in a way that’s safe for its guests.

“At the FRDC, that means such things as pre-registration for many activities, limits on group sizes and composition, physical distancing, regular sanitation and cleaning inside the centre, and the requirement to wear masks for visitors aged six and older,” he said.

Fraser River Discovery Centre is located at 788 Quayside Dr., next to River Market. It provides a variety of exhibits and programs related to the Mighty Fraser.
