Fundraising for New Westminster Secondary’s dry-grad celebration is in the final frantic stretch.

Drop by the Save-On-Foods at Royal City Centre this Saturday for a barbecue and spin-and-win for prizes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

An ongoing bottle drive at the New West Bottle Depot across from the high school will also help pay for the  festivities in June. (Be sure to tell staff at the depot to credit returns to the NWSS Dry Grad account.)

On June 20, the high school parking lot off Eighth Street will host a final car-wash fundraiser with food trucks includingThe Tasty Torpedo Sandwich Co. and Tin Lizzy Concessions mini donuts. The event, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will also include a Drive 4 UR School Ford test drive event.

Parents have organized alcohol-and-drug-free parties for grads since the mid-1990s in an effort to keep kids safe on grad night.

The bash for NWSS’s 480 grads, which will see students chaperoned and bused directly from the grad ceremony and back, is set for June 25.

"We can’t create this type of event without everyone’s support and we thank them for that,” NWSS 2015 Dry Grad Committee chair and grade 12 parent Susie Smith said in a press release.
