Ever wonder what Fido is thinking?
Award-winning author and neuropsychological researcher Stanley Coren is scheduled to present “How dogs think,” a public lecture, at Douglas College’s Coquitlam campus next week.
“Dr. Coren is a highly entertaining speaker who is passionate about the intelligence and psychology of dogs,” said Diane Boyle, an instructor in Douglas’ veterinary technology program, in a press release. “This is a great opportunity for dog lovers and the general public to gain insight into the fascinating world of the canine brain.”
Coren, who is a psychology professor at UBC, and is well-known for his books on dog smarts, including The Intelligence of Dogs, How to Speak Dog, Born to Bark and many more.
The lecture takes place on Monday, Oct. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. in room A1470 of Douglas College’s Coquitlam campus, 1250 Pinetree Way. The event is part of Animal Health Week (Oct. 2 to 8), which is a nationwide campaign promoting animal health and responsible ownership.

PAC hosts annual general meeting
Parents, it’s time to get involved in the new middle school.
Fraser River Middle School’s parent advisory council, also called the PAC, is hosting its annual general meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 3. There’s lots to discuss, according to organizers, so make room in your schedules.
The meeting is from 7 to 9 p.m. in the school’s library. Childminding is available.

Douglas gets more money
Westminster Savings Credit Union also made a hefty donation to the local college recently.
The credit union gave Douglas College more than $50,000 for Westminster Savings’ existing legacy bursary, which gives recipients about $2,000 each year to pursue studies at the college, according to a press release.
