T he popular Vancouver Fringe Festival will see one of our own strutting his stuff on stage in a new play this month.

New Westminster actor Sayer Roberts stars in Riverview High: The Musical, running for a total of eight performances, from Sept. 6 to 16 at the Firehall Arts Centre, 280 Cordova St. E. in Vancouver.

Riverview High is a new original musical featuring 18 original songs, and follows the story of a love triangle involving a sweet blonde, an intriguing brunette, and an ever-so-confused redhead.

The year is 1996, graduation is approaching, and Alex (Roberts) must make the biggest decision of his life: with whom will he embark on his future - girl-next-door Cathy (Stephanie Standerwick) or sophisticated Erica (Emily Canavan)?

NWSS HOSTS INTERNATIONAL TALENT

The New Westminster Secondary Music Department is hosting a concert at the Plaskett Gallery on Sept. 14 at 7: 30 p.m. featuring a trio of international talent.

New York City resident Laila Biali will sing and play piano, Bellingham's Julian MacDonough will be on drums and Port Coquitlam resident Jodi Proznick (sister of NWSS music teacher Kelly Proznick) will perform on bass.

Biali, who is originally from North Vancouver and now splits her time between New York City and Toronto, will be working with music students in an afternoon workshop, to be followed up with the evening concert.

This is the first time the school music department has organized a workshop in which students work with a professional, and then host a concert in the evening.

Advance tickets are $20 for students and seniors, and $30 for adults, available from the Massey Theatre Box Office by calling 604-521-5050, or through the website, www.masseythe atre.com.
