'Multiple gunshot wounds': Fatal shooting victim in Langley identified

Police are releasing the victim's identity in hopes of furthering their investigation.

A man is dead after being shot multiple times in Langley in what police are calling a targeted shooting.

People living in Willoughby called police at about 11:15 p.m. on Thursday after hearing gunshots fired in the 7700-block 211B Street.

Langley RCMP officers attended and found a man suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Police say he died from his injuries.

Bittu Chatchot, 35, has been identified as the individual who was shot and killed.

"Though investigators continue to work to build a timeline of events, this shooting is believed to have been targeted,” says Sgt. Timothy Pierotti with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Less than 10 minutes after the shooting, police were notified of a vehicle fire about six kilometres away.

Officers found a torched Ford F-150, which matched a description given by a witness at the shooting scene.

“Investigators continue to canvass the area for witnesses and residential video,” says Pierotti.

Anyone with dash camera footage from the 7700-block 211B Street or 232 Street and 76A Avenue between 9 and 11:30 p.m. is asked to contact police at 1-877-551-4448 or [email protected].
