I would like to commend our New Westminster-Burnaby member of Parliament Peter Julian for pushing for tougher laws to protect our first responders from harm!
If this passes muster in the House of Commons, anyone who attacks or threatens first responders, such as firefighters, police and other emergency service people, could be subject to a very long prison sentence.
This is very good news for the people who protect us every day, and I dearly hope all members of Parliament will vote in favour of this proposal.
I have never voted NDP in my life, but right now I am seriously considering doing so, when the next federal election rolls around.
