A black bear became confined near a Vancouver townhouse complex earlier this week.
Vancouver police officers and the BC Conservation Officer Service responded to a residence in South Vancouver on Monday night.
Witnesses told officers the bear was between the buildings in the townhouse complex.
“There were no reports of aggressive bear behaviour or conflict history, nor was the bear accessing houses,” said a spokesperson with BC Conservation Officer Service.
COs safely tranquillized the bear and thanked police officers for their assistance.
"It was relocated to a wilderness area outside of the city,” said the spokesperson.
Video captured on social media shows the officers carrying the bear down from the townhouses.
People can contact the Conservation Officer Service at 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP) if a bear poses an immediate threat or danger to public safety.
