2022 BC's Top Employers editorial competition evaluated employers based on innovative programs and workplace models that benefit employees.

The pandemic introduced uncertainty in many industries across the country. But British Columbia has had its fair share of challenges alongside COVID-19, like detrimental flooding and wildfires.

Many employers in B.C. and across the country had to pivot and find innovative strategies to ensure employment was secure and desirable.

And creative strategy is one factor that the 2022 BC’s Top Employers winners excelled at despite dealing with many domestic and international obstacles.

"There is a grounded, balanced approach to work in general, and this is reflected in the policies of British Columbia employers," said Kristina Leung, Mediacorp’s senior editor, in a press release.

Richard Yerema, the managing editor at Mediacorp, echoed this sentiment.

“Since the pandemic, the need for employees to balance their work commitments with personal time has never been greater.”

This annual editorial competition celebrates employers who offer exceptional workplaces, competitive compensation, work-life balance and progressive programs.

Among the 115 winners are University of British Columbia, WorkSafeBC, Save-On-Foods, Engineers and Geoscientist BC, the City of Coquitlam and Best Buy Canada.

“Employers are navigating permanent changes to the workplace — and hybrid workplaces that focus on flexibility are very much front-and-centre at forward-thinking employers,” said Yerema.
