Nick Cave is coming to New Westminster.

The Australian music legend has announced 14 North American dates for his Conversations With Nick Cave tour – an evening that features music and no-holds-barred discussion with the audience. One of those dates is Thursday, Oct. 10 at the Massey Theatre.

The 61-year-old Cave is best known as the frontman of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – along with his work as a composer, screenwriter, author and actor.

He recently took his Conversations show on tour to sold-out venues in Australia and New Zealand, and he’s on tour in the U.K. and Europe this spring.

The events are described by Cave as “an exercise in connectivity”: no subject is sacred, and Cave encourages his audiences to be “bold and challenging, confrontational and unafraid.”

Cave has always had what’s described as an “open and intense” relationship with his audience, but that deepened during his recent shows with the Bad Seeds, inspiring this new and unconventional tour.

“I thought that a direct conversation with the audience might be valuable,” Cage said in the release. “In the recent live shows we have all shown a kind of willingness to open up.”

Tickets ($112.50, $91.50 and $79.50, including service charges and fees) go on sale to the general public May 10 at 10 a.m. (Massey Theatre newsletter subscribers can buy theirs 24 hours in advance.)
