Van Dop Gallery is getting ready to open its doors again for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

The New Westminster gallery is launching a new exhibition, Spring Streets, featuring the work of artist Leanne M. Christie. The exhibition features paintings that showcase urban landscapes coming alive in the springtime.

“We are all spending more time in our own spaces, making the beautification of our homes and spaces a crucial aspect of our mental health and well-being,” the gallery said in a write-up about the exhibition. “The creative sector is a significant aspect of our local economy and in need of our collective support. Many artists and associated small businesses are looking for encouragement as they contribute to the sustainable vitality of our local economy.”

The gallery is hosting an opening exhibition on Saturday, June 6, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. – but you can’t just show up. To allow the gallery to maintain social distancing, anyone who wants to attend needs to make an appointment ahead (call 604-521-7887 or email trudy@vandopgallery.com) for a 20-minute viewing slot.

Van Dop Gallery is at 421 Richmond St. See www.vandopgallery.com for full details.
