New Westminster performers are front and centre in a new production of Shrek the Musical.

Align Entertainment’s latest outing is onstage at the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby from Jan. 31 to Feb. 15.

Based on the popular DreamWorks film, Shrek the Musical tells the story of a reclusive ogre who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking donkey and a feisty princess – with a cast of fairytale characters surrounding them.

It stars Charlie Deagnon as Shrek and Maddie Livland as Princess Fiona, both making their Align Entertainment debuts. Daniel Curalli, who previously appeared as Rooster in Align Entertainment’s Annie (a role for which he’s been nominated for a 2020 Ovation! Award), is back onstage as Donkey.

The cast also includes seven New Westminster performers.

Simon Auclair-Troughton appears as Pinocchio, Amanda Lourenco as the Wicked Witch, Dane Smith as the Third Little Pig and Knight, Elizabeth Irving as Robin Hood and Rat, Megan Greenwood as Fairy Godmother and Rat, and Scotia Browner as White Rabbit and Rat. All are also part of the Duloc Dancer ensemble. Robin Sukorokoff appears as Papa Bear and Guard.

Performances include both evening and matinee options, with a special family matinee on Feb. 1 and “Frugal Friday” evening performances on Feb. 7 and 14.
