The New Westminster New Media Gallery is inviting seniors in to explore creative technology.

The gallery is hosting a two-session workshop, 3D for Seniors: Home, on two Saturdays, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1. It runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. both days.

The course was developed by one of the gallery’s new instructors, Sara Korzec, and is organized and co-taught by gallery programmed Chris Jung.

Korzek will first introduce participants to ideas around “home” – is it a house, a place to sleep and eat, or is it more than that? Participants will share their thoughts, stories and perceptions of “home,” and then they’ll launch into the technology section. Starting with paper sketches, they’ll progress to Google Sketch-Up, 3D software, and start modelling their own creative 3D model, which will eventually be printed on 3D printers.
