Don’t miss your last chance to join in the fun at Music by the River.

The Arts Council of New Westminster’s summer concert series winds up tonight (Thursday, Aug. 9) with a performance by singer-songwriter Francis Henson.

The outdoor concert series at Westminster Pier Park, which is in its fourth year, is presented by the arts council, in conjunction with Alex Jopson of City to Suburb Real Estate Group and the City of New Westminster. Concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m.

It’s already run five Thursday evenings, with music from Raincity Blue, Wax Cowboy, The Burying Ground, Early Spirit and Sweetz.

The free all-ages events take place on the festival lawn, and the Eats at the Pier concession stand is open for food and drinks – including offerings from New Westminster’s Pacific Breeze Winery and Steel & Oak Brewing Co. Since the whole site is licensed, visitors can enjoy the music from anywhere in the park.

So why not turn up and make a night of it? Enjoy the beach volleyball courts and the hammocks, take a selfie at the WOW New Westminster sculpture at the end of the park, and turn the kids loose in the playground.

See www.artscouncilnewwest.org/music-by-the-river/ for all the details.
