Love to draw? Or perhaps you just want to learn how.

The New West Artists Gallery can help.

The gallery hosts a number of classes and events for artists at all skill levels.

Coming up is a fall art class, Learn How to Draw Before You Paint, with artist Stephen Holmes. It runs for six sessions on Thursday evenings starting Sept. 12.  The sessions are open to teens and adults, and each two-hour session will introduce an aspect of drawing – including perspective, light, shadow and proportion. The class costs $60. To register, call Lavana at 604-525-4566.

The gallery also offers regular Drop In and Do Art sessions on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. The non-instructional sessions give people a chance to paint, draw, sketch, doodle, colour or whatever they’d like to do, in a social and fun environment. Bring your own supplies. Entry is $2, or by donation.

For those who’d like to improve their figure drawing, Life Drawing sessions are also held regularly, with nude model provided. Bring your easel and art supplies to the next session on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The drop-in fee is $15. RSVP to Lavana at 604-525-4566, or email lavanalabrey6@gmail.com.

The gallery is at 712C 12th St. For more, see www.newwestartists.com.
