The gallery at Massey Theatre will host Tatanka: Buffalo Skull Art by artist Kim Soo Goodtrack from June 1 to 21. An opening reception is set for Saturday, June 1 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Goodtrack is a member of the Lakota Woodmountain reserve in Southern Saskatchewan who has an extensive career as an artist and educator, including time as a cultural enrichment worker for inner-city schools in Vancouver.

“From a meager start that was filled with sadness, abuse and shame, I survived,” Goodtrack says in a biographical statement. “Now let me tell you it takes a lifetime to heal from painful childhood experiences. I had to hold on to the good to live. This I share so that others that come from an upsetting background can know things do get better.”

You can drop in to the Plaskett Gallery to check out Tatanka at any time during gallery hours. It’s open Tuesday to Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m., during performances at Massey Theatre or by appointment. Call 604-517-5900 or see for information.
